General Secretary of IFMA at IOC Headquarters

The General Secretary of IFMA, who is one of the representatives of IFMA at the GAISF Martial Arts Commission, recently attended an important meeting at the IOC Headquarters in Lausanne to discuss the planned Martial Arts Games under the umbrella of GAISF (General Association of International Sports Federations).

Anthony Scanlon, Head of Games Services and Coordination of the IOC, gave a detailed briefing on the structure of big international games, for example the Olympic Games, explaining the criteria.

The planned Martial Arts Games, under the umbrella of GAISF, a partner of the IOC, will with no doubt be the biggest Martial Arts event ever staged, and will take martial arts to a new level.

Thirteen IOC and GAISF recognised martial arts have joined together in this important GAISF Martial Arts Commission, which is chaired by Hein Verbruggen, the GAISF President and Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for the 2008 Olympics, who brings vast experience to the table.
