Press Conference: Launch of the WMC World Muaythai Stand Off, USA

15th June 2011 saw an exciting press conference in Bangkok’s Royal Thai Army Club to announce the kick-off of the WMC World Muaythai Stand Off which will mark the inauguration of the new “WMC Stadium” located in Pomona, California, USA.

At the helm of the project, Dr. Joe Vivo and Pongsan Ekyothin of Push Kick Promotions whom extended their deep gratitude to the WMC for the support in making this project a reality.

Dr. Joe addressed and audience and stressed how with the WMC’s support and cooperation, the traditions and values of the sport will be maintained…. “Without the special efforts of all involved, the traditions and values of muaythai will have certainly been compromised if not completely changed on American soil. The uncompromising Full Rules Muaythai in California is now the norm instead of the exception with the cooperation of the WMC and the California State Athletic Commission”.

The project is set to span a time-line of over a year’s worth of events, with the first event of the series on July 16th 2011 and ending with the final event on November 3rd 2012.

The Program for the 16th of July looks to be filled with exciting bouts and entertainment. Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan also assured that in keeping with the mission of the WMC to preserve and uphold the traditional aspects of muaythai, a full Thai musical band will be flown to California, air tickets courtesy of Thai Airways.
