Malaysian Government hosts official ceremony for World Championship national team

In the wake of “The Challenger Muaythai”, which was filmed in Malaysian and fully supported by the Malaysian Government, the nation continues to be in Muaythai fever. The national team has now been finalized through selection fights between all state champions. Over 450 boxers competed in 15 states, in order to win a place to compete in the National Muaythai Championship in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Out of 60 at the National Muaythai Championship, 7 athletes won a place on the national team, and will represent Malaysia in the 2012 World Championship in St Petersburg this September.

The Malaysian national team was invited to government house to receive the official flag, so Malaysian pride will fly high in St. Petersburg. Malaysia’s team captain, Mohd Ali Yaakob, who won gold at the Arafura Games in Australia and will lead the team in Russia, received the national flag from the Malaysian Sports Minister YB. Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
