Muaythai Preparing for the 2015 SportAccord Convention

The sport of Muaythai, under the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur, has been a proud member of SportAccord (formerly known as GAISF) since 2006 and has been an active and present exhibitor at every convention since then. Officially recognized by the IOC, SportAccord is the umbrella organisation for all (Olympic and non-Olympic) international sports federations as well as organisers of multi-sports games and sport-related international associations. IFMA has been in every SportAccord Convention from Seoul to Beijing, Athens to Denver, Dubai to London, and St. Petersburg to Antalya just last year.

This year, IFMA will be going to Sochi to once again attend the convention from April 19-24, and will represent Muaythai, the cultural art and competition sport in order to take Muaythai to the highest sporting recognition. A huge IFMA delegation from around the world will travel to Sochi, lead by IFMA President, Dr Sakchye Tapsuwan.

The SportAccord Convention is a 6-day annual gathering of leading representatives from international sport. It encompasses the Congress and General Assemblies of three associations whose members consist of 109 International Sports Federations (IFs) and  Associate Members.

SportAccord Convention is the world’s premier annual event at the service of sport, focused on driving positive change internationally, and dedicated to engaging rights holders, organising committees, cities, businesses and other organisations in the development of sport.

Owned by SportAccord, ASOIF, AIOWF, ARISF and AIMS, SportAccord Convention annually brings together representatives from more than 100 International Sports Federations and organisations affiliated to SportAccord (General Association of International Sports Federations), ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic International Federations), AIOWF (Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations), ARISF (Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations), and AIMS (Alliance of Independent Members of SportAccord).
