Muaythai Debuts in the Russian Beach Games with Huge Success
Sochi, the city which just hosted the unforgettable Olympic Winter Games and also has beautiful beaches to be the host city of the Russian Beach Games. With the first World Beach Games in planning, Muaythai is one of the most popular sports in Asian Beach Games which is held under the umbrella of the Olympic Council of Asia.
Muaythai in Russia is fully recognized by the National Olympic Committee and highest Sport Authorities via Russian Muaythai Federations, IFMA’s member. Russia was also the host for the 2012 IFMA World Championships and 2013 Russia, was the host for the World Combat Games which are under the patronage of the IOC and muaythai is one of the 15 combat sports in the game. The Russian Beach Games was organized from highest standard and muaythai stadium was filled to the bursting point from the beginning until the end.
Dmitri Putilin stated that this event has really seen the best Russian female and male athletes participating and the huge media coverage showcased once again all the beauty of muaythai as a cultural art form and outstanding competition sport. Russia already secured the first spots for the 2017 World Games in Poland. Another multi-sport event under patronage of the IOC in which muaythai under IFMA is included and Russia hopes to get more sports during the IFMA Royal World Cup 2016 in Sweden.
