World Muaythai Championships – Day Three Results

Female bouts opened the third day of the competition and representatives of the most numerous teams stepped in the ring. The host of the last World Games qualifier in Kazan, Russian Valeria Drozdova took on Funda Alkayus from Turkey. Both Russian and Turkish Muaythai are one of the strongest in IFMA and this time the Russian flag flew high for the Valeriya. After the match Valeriya said that this year is very important for Russian muaythai as again Russia will host a big muaythai event in Kazan in November.

It was a clash of the continents in the bout between Vietnam and Mexico with Ly Bui Yen beating Malena Ramirez in a bout worth a final. Both girls were worth a victory and with a little advantage Vietnam was stronger today.

Eventually, Sweden had an opportunity to celebrate a victory in the female division with Johanna Rydberg beating French Myriame Djedidi and the best female athlete of 2015 Sofia Olofsson winning against Canadian Melissa Reaume. Having a difficult first few steps of the championships Sweden have started to take their place in the competition giving the audience reason to come and give them even more support in the following rounds of the World Championships.

After a representative of Ivory Coast shocked the Thai team sending the superstar Warawut Singin packing his luggage home. The public went wild and for the Thai team it was a cold shower right before the other athletes came to the ring.

Finally athletes from Ukraine had their turn to show their skills and both male athletes Serhii Kuliaba, and Stanislav Perzhanovski became winners in the corresponding matches with Peruvian Victor Ocanto and Morroccan Chakir Ilyass. It was not Ukraine’s day for female representatives which finished their competition after the first round.

Another African from Algeria Olivier Naoto was a winner of the bout against Dias Kassenov from Kazakhstan and gave Africa a stronger presence in the following round of the World Championships.
Muaythai has truly become an international sport with any continent being able to beat even the most reputable and famous athlete which makes the IFMA World Championships an intriguing event which can reach thousands at the stadium and much more at the broadcast of the event.
