IFMA CONFERENCES

IFMA prides itself on being a genuinely democratic federation and realizes that only through an annual world meeting, can it develop and work according to international sporting standards and the constitution of its federation.  So it is that every year all committees meet for a five day workshop in order to cover all aspects of Muaythai and international requirements.

IFMA has set up the following committees for which the Executive Board is subject to elections every two years:  Technical Board, International Competition Board, Safety and Equipment Board, Event Calendar Board, International Development Board, World Medical Board, Youth Development Board, Rules and Regulations Board, Press and Public Relations Board and Legal Board.

Two essential IFMA World Meetings took place in 2004; the World Meeting was held in July in which 78 countries participated and after passing the GAISF Council Meeting in October, a special workshop on the prospects for GAISF recognition was held in Bangkok in November where representatives from 80 countries attended.

After the successful inclusion in GAISF in 2006, another World Conference was held in Bangkok in which representatives from 90 countries attended.  Important speech was given by the guest speaker, Dr. Nat Indrapana, Thailand IOC member; who indicated that this was just the beginning and IFMA must dedicate further effort in order to become an IOC recognized sport.  There was never a doubt that IFMA as the popularity and structure to achieve this goal.

Another imperative guest speaker was Dr. Santiparp Tejavanija, OCA Executive Member, who outlined the future and the path towards the Asian Games.

The next IFMA Congress is scheduled for December 2007 with the expected attendance from 100 member countries.
