Asian Beach Games 2014

Fantastic news has come through for the sport of muaythai on the eve of the Asian Beach Games 2014: the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has included Muaythai in the Asian Beach Games, set to occur in Phuket, Thailand, in 2014.

This has been the fourth of these prestigious games which marked the second games event under the banner of the OCA that Muaythai has been included, the first being the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games.

The sport of Muaythai has come a long way and IFMA, which has National Federations in over 120 countries and is fully recognized by SportAccord, the Olympic committee of Asia, the International World Games Association, FISU and TAFISA, welcomed 30 national Olympic committees in Asia to send muaythai teams to compete in the upcoming 4th Asian Beach Games in Phuket.

It is an honour for Muaythai to be a part of the Asian Beach Games and the competing athletes were proud to showcase Muaythai as not only a great sport, but as a cultural art form.

Muaythai was one of the most anticipated sport of the event with a 6 day competition schedule planned out, from the 17th to the 22nd of November, for male athletes from around Asia.

Mr.Karim Massimov, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and President of Federation of Amateur Muaythai of Asia (FAMA) under OCA stated that the Asian Beach Games is an important event in the sporting calendar and that Muaythai will be one of the most popular sport during the games as it is the national sport of Thailand.
