IFMA Closing Ceremony and Farewell Party

IFMA, the world governing body for Amateur Muaythai and a member of GAISF, have been proud to be included in the TAFISA World Sport for All, TreX-Games, under patronage of the IOC. What made IFMA even more proud was that they were given permission to hold the official World Championships as part of the official sports program of the Games. As the official sports program, Muaythai received the main stadium for the competition, where the Opening Ceremony of the Games was held.

After 6 days of competition, the closing ceremony for Muaythai and the traditional Farewell Party for all athletes and officials brought the Games to a close.
This year’s Championships hade many surprises with Iran, Turkey and South Africa clearly becoming stronger in Muaythai and some great matches came about between Thailand, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia ,Ukraine and Canada.
62 selected countries came together to be part of this historical event and analyzing the junior competition the future of Muaythai looks very bright.

The farewell party which was organized by IFMA and KMTA (Korean Muaythai Association) was packed to capacity with teams eager to know who won this year’s IFMA awards.

First of all, IFMA would like to thank all the athletes for their hard work and incredible performance. Also, a big thank you to all officials and referees who have been working hard to organize the technical side of the competition.

It has been a great week of sport and cultural exchange and the world is eagerly looking forward for the GAISF Martiad, where for the first time 13 IOC and GAISF recognized martial arts will come together.
