WMC-Contender UK Qualifier – An Explosive Event

November 30th saw the UK carve out its representative for Season 2 of the hit TV reality series The Contender Asia, fully sanctioned by the WMC. The Watford Coliseum in London was packed to the max with patrons of the sold out WMC-Contender Asia UK Eliminator.

The first match of the Super 8 tournament saw Craig Jose up against Jay Woodham. Craig throwing a sharp elbow in the 2nd round took the victory by KO. A great start to an evening of non-stop action.

Next up was Jordan Watson Vs Tim Thomas. The fight went the distance, but Jordan Watson had the edge and won the bout on points.

The third quarterfinal of the evening was Chris Shaw VS Alex Abusin. The bout again went the distance, and Chris Shaw proved his worth to the judges and they awarded him the win.

The last quarterfinal was Daniel Hudson Vs Steve Jones. Both fighters went the distance toe to toe but in the end it could be only one, and the man of the hour was Daniel Hudson.

It was time for the first semi-final of the night, and the crowd went wild welcoming back in to the ring Jordan Watson Vs Craig Jose. Jordan won on points and got one step closer to the Contender loft.

The next semi-final had the spectators biting their nails as they watched an all out war. Chris Shaw and Daniel Hudson were neck and neck for 3 rounds, and were so evenly matched, the judges needed one more round of battering to decide who of the two relentless warriors would advance to the final. After the extra round of combat was over, the crowd held their breath as the announcer read the decision and it was Daniel Hudson’s name that was heard over the sound system.

The time had come for the final stretch, and the match that would decide just who would be representing the United Kingdom in the Contender house. Sadly, as it goes in tournaments like these, Dan Hudson had taken a bashing and was unable to continue. Chris Shaw took his place and entered the ring to face off in the final showdown against Jordan Watson for the chance at Contender glory.

The stakes were high, and both fighters knew it. The hunger was apparent and Jordan Watson went in hard and fast right off the bat. After a 1st round stoppage, it was Jordan Watson who went home the champion and winner of the WMC-Contender Season 2 UK Eliminator.

HE Datuk Abd. Aziz Mohammed, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland was on hand to award Jordan with the Key to Malaysia.

Congratulations to the promoters of this highly successful event, and congrats to Jordan Watson, we look forward to seeing how he fares in the Contender loft for Season 2 in Malaysia.
