Message from Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee
Muaythai Royal World Cup, Bangkok 2015
On behalf of the Olympic movement I would like to convey my greetings and well wishes to all participants of the Muaythai Royal World Cup 2015 and the 23 participating sports federations and delegates from IOC recognised sporting organisations attending the AIMS Conference in Thailand.
Blending sport with culture and education is the platform of Olympism.
Sport of any kind has the power to unite, bringing diverse cultures and peoples together from all parts of the globe. Sport thrives in the spirit of fair play and ethical behavior, it brings out grace in winning and losing, and it forges friendships. The Olympic Agenda 2020 encompasses good governance, tolerance, and solidarity, laying a strong foundation for the future so that the Olympic values will continue to be universal values and athletes will continue to be the heart of the Olympic Movement.
The cultures, traditions and ideals of many countries are represented in the modern practice of combat sports. Muaythai is one such art, and I congratulate IFMA on its commitment to social initiatives, using the power of sport to contribute for the good of society.
