Bangkok-based muaythai promoter Elite Boxing held a press conference at Gaysorn Plaza in Bangkok yesterday to announce the schedule for the much anticipated second series of Thailand VS Challenger (TVC). Featuring a total of five confirmed events in both Europe and Asia, all sanctioned by the WMC, TVC (2011) will be launched at a Grand Opening at the River City Hall in Bangkok on July 23.
The press conference was chaired by His Excellency General Pichit Kullavanijaya, Honorary Life President of the World Muaythai Council (WMC), and it was announced that proceeds from ticket sales at the TVC Grand Opening on July 23 will be donated to General Pichit’s “Muaythai Against Drugs” foundation.
The World Muaythai Council has staged a successful qualifier for the upcoming Challenger show in
beautiful Pattaya, Thailand.
The event, which was televised live on Thai TV and will be shown on ESPN, was literally a knock-
out success. Every fighter gave his all to secure a spot in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The opening fight saw Jay Woodham from England squaring up against Corley Fairtex, and this fight
had the crowd on its feet as both boys went toe-to-toe for 2 and a half rounds…. It was Corley who
stopped Jay with a fantastic combination.
Fight 2 saw Faizal Ramli from Malaysia take on Ahora from Iran, and again it was a war with both
boys going for the legs and solid grappling. It was Faizal proving in the 3rd round why he is called
the ‘Golden Elbow’ – stopping the Iranian.
A joint press conference was held in Bangkok to announce the upcoming Challenger Muaythai Generation 3D TV series which will be held in Malaysia and commence in October. The press conference was held by the World Muaythai Council, the Malaysian Muaythai Federation, and Osys Group of Companies. Selangor, Malaysia, will be the venue, and 16 of the best muaythai fighters from around the world will travel to participate in this Challenger reality series.
