All Chinese Championships

As every year, it’s time for the All Chinese Championships to be held again. In 2012 it was China’s turn, and 2013 is set for Macau, the Las Vegas of Asia.

The event will be held from the 8th-10th of January in Macau. The national teams of China, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and Macau will compete for pride and honour, under the sanctioning of IFMA and FAMA.

Dr. Tapsuwan leads successful seminar in Germany

This November, IFMA’s President, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, was a guest in the city of Rommerskirchen, Germany, where he led a Muaythai seminar which covered the Khan system and referee and judging courses.

IFMA’s President and WMC General Secretary will head the 2012 European Instructors Workshop

This year Germany is the host country for the 2012 WMC and IFMA joint Khan workshop, organised by the Muaythai Bund Deutschland and Ajarn Detlef Turmau.

The five day workshop will be chaired by IFMA’s President and the WMC General Secretary, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan

Thai Parliament Supports Muaythai

The Sports Commission of the Thai Parliament staged a special session for Muaythai, in order to support the “Muaythai Towards IOC” recognition campaign and to find ways to help with the international expansion of Muaythai, not only as a sport, but also as a cultural art form.

Chairman Thanet Kruarat invited the Sports Ministry, the Sport Authority of Thailand, the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, the WMC, IFMA and the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand (AMTAT) to this important meeting.

IFMA’s General Congress Takes Place

Representatives from eighty two countries participated in this year’s annual congress, which was filled with presentations to discuss many future activities, campaigns.

The President Dr. Tapsuwan, welcomed all the representatives from the national federations, the IFMA Executive Board, the guests from the Russian government, National Olympic and thanked the city of Saint Petersburg and the Russian Muaythai Federation for a fantastic 2013. He also thanked SportAccord for declaring this a test event and for holding a workshop and being part of the Opening Ceremony.

Night of Friendship and Cultural Understanding

The 2012 IFMA Goodbye Party was a night where all the competitions came to an end and over 80 countries celebrated their cultural understanding and friendship through Muaythai.

150 Years – Germany and Thailand: History is Always In the Making

This year, 2012, is a historical one for many reasons. We have just witnessed the amazing Olympic Games in London, Muaythai has launched its application to become IOC recognized, and this year also marks 150 years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Thailand. In order to celebrate this, a cultural exchange will take place between the two countries. The “Thailand VS Germany” gala event will take place on German soil on September 15th, sanctioned by the world governing body for Muaythai, the World Muaythai Council (WMC), and organised by Elite Boxing Germany in cooperation with the official German Muaythai member federation, Muaythai Bund Deutschland (MTBD).

“Inherited Art of Muaythai”: Ten thousand children participate in Prince Cup Muaythai Festival

Ten thousand children from all Thailand’s provinces participated in this year’s festival in honour of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, jointly organized by the BMA, the WMC and IFMA. The children come from all walks of life, from schools and social institutions, all participating in various non-fighting contests such as the Wai Khru and Muaythai technique, Muay Aerobic (Kee-a-Muaythai), Muaythai Music and Na-ta Muaythai. In each of these divisions, there were two categories: under 15 and over 15.

Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan Re-elected as IFMA President

Dr. Tapsuwan, President of the AMTAT under Royal Patronage and IFMA has been re-elected for a 3rd term in the office of IFMA President.

The Grand ballroom of the Radisson SAS hotel in Tahskent was the venue for the 2011 IFMA General Assembly, at which the IFMA board was re-elected.

Stephan Fox was re-elected as the General Secretary of IFMA while Mr Kajorn Prowsri was re-elected as Treasurer. Karim Massimov, PM of Kazakhstan was re-elected as Vice President together with Mr. Yeo Kyu Tae from Korea. Sue Latta, Chairman of the Female Commission was elected as the first female Vice President on the Executive Committee.
