Israel Gears up for St. Petersburg

14th of June saw a successful national Muaythai championship in Israel which sought to qualify the nation’s best athletes to proudly represent the Israeli flag at the upcoming IFMA World Championships in St. Petersburg. Some 128 athletes competed for a coveted spot on the National Team governed by the Muaythai Federation of Israel under the presidency of long time IFMA member Mr Beny Cogan.

IFMA wishes to congratulate Mr. Cogan on the recent successful application for full recognition from the Ministry of Sport. Congratualtions also must go to athlete Itay Gershon, gold medalist at the 2011 IFMA World Championship in Tashkent, who was awarded the trophy for 2011 Sportsman of the Year by the Sports Minister herself!

30th of June will see the first Unleashed show for the year from Australia’s Taipan Promotions, which promises some great Muaythai Action with a fight card of NSW’s professional and amateur fighters.

The event will also see some male and female qualifiers for the IFMA Amateur World Championships in St Petersburg Russia this year.


Ten Weeks to IFMA World Championship: The Countdown is On

The Russian Muaythai Federation, in full support of RUMA and the city of St. Petersburg, is in preparation for the upcoming 2012 IFMA World Championship. Over 2,000 athletes, coaches and officials from 100 countries are expected to ravel to St. Petersburg to be part of this important event in one of the world’s most historic cities. This is not simply a World Championship: it is also the official test event for the 2013 World Combat Games (WCG), organized by Sport Accord, under patronage of the IOC.
